This book is the classic example of how people, who unfortunately have a very influential position, use science incorrectly to prove their point no matter what. One of the most alarming aspects of this issue is the regulatory gap in assessing the real-world impact of these toxins. Although Olien is an advocate for healthy, and predominantly plant-based eating, he doesn’t stop there. She said ‘ee this is great thee nose, ‘ although’t author is American and wife’s not she reckoned it gave ‘er a right insight in to alternative living like, she did wonder at Easter when she slipped in ter Easter egg mode what Darrin would have said about all that sugar an’ wot ‘ave thee, but ees not to know tho eh! My journey started 9 months ago with the switch to a plant based diet, daily yoga, meditation and walking.

Darin Olien's journey into the world of health and wellness was significantly influenced by a personal tragedy. Down to Earth with Zac Efron is a fun look at supplemental foods that might help, along with beautiful locales. By the age of ten I had water on my knees and had undergone various medical treatments for allergies and immune system dysfunction and other weirdness. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The only thing I found is that it stressed me out, I ended up feeling like nothing I do will be good enough to keep me truly healthy unless I only eat a huge variety of raw fruit and veg and nothing else and drink loads of water which I need to get from a fresh lake somewhere because all other forms of water are bad for you…so I gave up sadly. For those of us who are active and need a fair bit of calories, trying to follow the diet he suggests would be a pain in the rear -- getting enough calories would probably be a chore. The book definetely drips with privelge and there is a slight disconnect between what the author has had available and what is likely available to the average American (or other culture though I can only speak for my own). Shallow breathing, a poor diet, and even mild dehydration can put us at risk of being oxygen-deprived. As a western manifestation of a wholesome eastern, ancient wise philosophy of living well and focusing on what really matters, understanding that you yourself are made of this world and to strive in it you have to really connect to the essence of life in every bodily aspect. Olien urges companies to steer away from greenwashing marketing tactics and embrace a commitment to immediate change.

It’s also very conversationally-written, so while it includes multiple science-backed facts and peer-reviewed studies, it’s an easy read. This book has taken my journey to the next level with lots of accessible information and useful tips. However, Olien definitely speaks from a place of privilege and makes some well-intentioned, but unrealistic claims. A. in psychology, he labels himself a "wellness expert", promotes " superfoods" and co-starred as well as produced the Netflix docuseries Down to Earth with Zac Efron in 2020. Not coincidentally—since we and those plants are all alive, an important thing to have in common—we animals require many of the same substances plants do.On the other hand, if we're run-down and vulnerable, or if we're acidic, dehydrated, oxygen-poor, and not getting the proper nutrients, we offer harmful bacteria, viruses, and even carcinogens a welcoming home. If we consume this type of water it can remove all of our essential salts and minerals, due to the concentration gradient. I struggle living in a culture that promotes businesses and corporations that don't care about us, and profit from our blind obedience. Our sweat glands, lungs, liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, intestinal microbes, and bladder work to “clear out the trash. I agreed and believed 100% of this book while I was listening but, I just started the book Glucose Revolution: The Life-Changing Power of Balancing Your Blood Sugar which says a smoothie for breakfast is a bad idea.
