About this deal

It’s obvious that there is an attraction bubbling between the two of them. The sexual tension is off the scale. But with both of them trying to maintain that professional distance with the mantra of not mixing business with pleasure, they were always fighting a losing battle. I reach out and take his hand, staring into his eyes. He finally smiles at me, but it seems to take a great effort to do so. I’d even go as far to say he looks pissed. I will try not to include spoilers as I want everyone to experience this story for themselves.. but for a bit of a flavour.... This book is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, events, or locales is entirely coincidental.

Hmm.” I realize I’ve been standing with my jaw clenched instead of showing her out. “Yes, loyalty, of course.” I can’t help my gaze dropping to the exposed skin and hint of pink lace camisole visible by the top button of her shirt. Okay... I have a second job as a honey trapper. But hardly anyone knows, especially not Griffin. You cannot tell him.” Overall, I think it’s plain to see that I loved this book. It’s a fantastic story with lovable, relatable and enigmatic characters that keep you hooked and wanting more. I hope that we get to meet Maria and Griffin in later books… maybe Reed and Harley? There’s a story there… you can just sense it. Suze drops her voice. “I did indeed. I suspected Curt had been having extra company, shall we say, after I had to go to the doctor for something that turned out to be a sexually transmitted infection.”I thought I could make the introductions, seeing as you haven’t met before.” His eyes leave the paperwork on his desk, and he looks up at me, arching a brow. Good, thank you, Todd. Great, actually. It’s been a whirlwind first week, so I haven’t explored much yet. But I’m going to rectify that this weekend.” I’ll remember I have your blessing for that next time I see him. Or hear him.” Her laugh dies down as the two of us stand and look at each other.

I tear my eyes away from Griffin’s and peer around him. A tall guy who looks about Griffin’s age is standing in the open doorway of the apartment next door. He sees me and flashes a bright white smile as his eyes light up.I give him a tight smile. It feels strange calling him Griffin. Too familiar, like we should be friends. And we are definitely not friends. He doesn’t even seem happy about me calling him by his first name, but this is the second time he has corrected me, so I really should use it. I didn’t realize he had guests staying.” Harley wrinkles her nose before shrugging her shoulders. Before I can ask who—or explain that they weren’t the out-of-town family type of guests—she links her arm through mine and pulls me across the plush sidewalk carpet and up the steps toward The Songbird’s main door. “Come on, let’s go in!” This is the fifth book in Nicoll's Men series, but each book, including this one, can be read as a standalone. Harley shakes her head at me. “Not likely. That woman is driven. She asked me to show her to the conference room early. She said she had some paperwork to go over.” My apologies if we disturbed you,” I offer with my best business-like smile as his large, warm hand envelops mine. It’s another thing I noticed about him when we first met. His hands are huge. Strong and masculine, with long fingers and clean, neat nails. I always admire a man’s hands. They can tell you a lot about someone. My ex, for example, always had dirty nails. I hated that he didn’t care enough to wash them properly. It’s not like he even worked outside or in a job where they got dirty every day. He had no reason for it, except downright laziness.

Convenient,” Maria clips, her eyes assessing my casual position as she sits up straight, her hands clasped in her lap. The corners of her red glossy lips turn down before she takes a breath. “If you don’t trust me to take meetings alone and run the spa myself, then why did you approach me when I was in LA?” With an exterminator, I hope.” I grit my teeth as the bird brain coos at me from a safe distance. “Rat with wings,” I mutter. It’s so nice to meet you, Maria. I’ve heard all about your visions for the spa. They sound incredible. I’m sure you’ll love working here at The Songbird. We’re a friendly bunch. Like Harley said, if you need anything, you just ask. My official role here is head of hotel administration. But as Harley’s wonderful introduction said, whatever you need, just ask. If I can’t help, I can find someone who will.” I take a sip of the sweet, fiery liquid. It’s grapefruit with a hint of ginger, and completely delicious. If you have not read the other books in The Men Series - get to it! There are several book boyfriends waiting for you 😉She tuts and rolls her eyes when I don’t move, brushing past me and walking around my desk to my chair. I knew things were going to be different in New York from LA. But befriending your husband’s mistress? Surely not. So, Griffin has underlying trust issues that lead him to being controlling in his work environment. He has headhunted Maria to come and work and run his spa at his hotel. He knows how good she is at her job and has wanted her (in more ways than one) for a long time. Maria finds his controlling style frustrating and undermining - even though she proves her competence regularly. Maria has her own issues with previous men in her life that let her down and so she is very independent. However she also notices Griffin's sexy as sin suits and blue eyes..... I narrow my eyes at Harley in interest. “Sounds intriguing. I’m guessing there’s more to that comment?”
