About this deal

I love the narrative surrounding the friendship formed by Sunset and Destiny. Sunset's character was far more developed than Destiny. I feel for Destiny's mum as well who was never developed further than as a character obsessed with Danny, and she never gained her own agency. It would have been great to see a storyline where Destiny and her mother find happiness with themselves, after seeing Danny's reality at the premiere.

Jacqueline Wilson wrote her first novel when she was nine years old, and she has been writing ever since. She is now one of Britain's bestselling and most beloved children's authors. She has written over 100 books and is the creator of characters such as Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather. More than forty million copies of her books have been sold.Available from the 11th February on Sky Kids and streaming service NOW, this 4 x 22’ mini-series is adapted for screen by Nathan Bryon (co-creator and writer of Sky Max Bloods) and Jonny Wright, produced by Matt Tiller and directed by Ian Aryeh. Ian says:"It’s been a real joy to work with such an incredible cast and crew to bring Little Darlings to life.” Both Sunset and Destiny's chapters only properly connected at the end of the book. Before this they could have been two completely different books.

Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. Everything changes when the two families meet in the middle of the night: sparks fly between Kate and Danny and Destiny finds a soul mate in her new sister, Sunset. Through their instant connection and mutual passion for music, the two sisters see each other in a way no one else can, bringing out each other’s hidden talent to shine for all the world to see.Plus, members can enhance their experience with NOW Boost – that’s full 1080p HD, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and streaming on up to 3 devices at once, ad-free in VOD. Lucy Murphy, director of kids content, Sky UK and Ireland, said: “Dame Jacqueline Wilson is one of the UK’s most beloved children’s authors, so we’re thrilled to be bringing Little Darlings to life on our screens supported by the exceptional musical talents of Lemar and Jamelia and this diverse cast of talented young actors – this tale of family bonds, celebrity and sisterhood really has something for everyone.”

Melanie Stokes, head of kindle entertainment and executive producer and co-executive producer, Emma Stuart, stated: “We’re delighted to be making this first Jacqueline Wilson adaption for Sky Kids and to build on our long-standing partnership with this great British children’s author. Little Darlings offers Jacqueline Wilson fans a fresh take on a much loved book, from writers Nathan Bryon and Jonny Wright. This, combined with the star quality and sheer talent of Lemar and Jamelia, creates a warm, wish-fulfilling universe that is firmly rooted in contemporary Britain.” Lemar said: “I’m so excited to be a part of Little Darlings. Sky Kids and the team at Kindle have been amazing and getting to work alongside great crew, cast members, and friends has been a real breath of fresh air. I love what this show represents… something positive with a bit of humour for the whole family!” The book explores two sides of the spectrum; working class and the rich and famous upper class but in an interesting way pushes the two together. Wilson allows for the reader to not only see how ‘the other half lives’ so to speak but also watching the development of the characters and how they feel about their lives. Jacqueline Wilson is a great writer and has produced many great stories, but 'Little Darlings' just wasn't that one of them. It felt like she was trying to mix her other books, 'clean break', 'illustrated mum' and 'secrets' together.Jacqueline is one of the nation’s favourite authors, and her books are loved and cherished by young readers not only in the UK but all over the world. She has sold millions of books and in the UK alone the total now stands at over 35 million! Destiny's mother was so irresponsible and didn't seem to think about her daughter when she made decisions, especially when she got into a random car late at night.

Destiny Williams: Destiny is also Dannys daughter but not Suzys. Danny and her mother went out before she was born but when Destiny was born, Danny wasnt around anymore. She sets out to find her father and becomes a good friend of Sunsets. Jacqueline Wilson wrote her first novel when she was nine years old, and she has been writing ever since. She is now one of Britain’s bestselling and most beloved children’s authors. She has written over 100 books and is the creator of characters such as Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather. More than forty million copies of her books have been sold. As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children's Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children's Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame. Destiny is also an interesting character. At just 11 years old she feels more like the parent and has to plead with her mother, Kate, to seek help for her deteriorating condition. It feels as though we are meant to pity Kate for working so hard and trying to connect Destiny with her father - and whilst it was certainly sad to read about her neglecting her own health and falling into a depression, any likeability for her character was destroyed by how frustrating it was to read about her hysterical obsession with Danny and the way in which she neglects Destiny because of it.Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments
