About this deal

Para apuntalarla el rey decide hacer un viaje al norte el año de 1541 (una Jornada), para reprimir traiciones, recabar adhesiones, recibir pleitesías y derrochar su munificencia. We all know what it’s like to anticipate something so much that we are literally shaking with excitement.

You think you have a holy truth and that if the state is run by its principles all men will become happy and good. When she crosses a newly discovered billionaire supervillain, Dreadnought comes under attack from all quarters. Each chapter covers a new topic, however before learning about each topic you must have the right “mind-set”, and this introduction is set up to help you with this. There are some recurring characters in the series and it would be best to get to know them from their first appearance. In this text the historical event the mystery is integrated into is Henry VIII’s Great Progress to York in 1541 and the subsequent downfall of Queen Catherine Howard. In addition, we learn a lot more about Shardlake’s relationship to his father and his growing up in the countryside. Cromwell is now dead so Shardlake has been living his life as a normal lawyer would without being sent off to do any missions for the Crown. The real heroes are the average people, reminding the reader that under all the glitz and glam of the Tudor court, there were regular men and women were trying to survive during such tumultuous times.

Sunday Times Not only a great detective novel but also a fabulous insight into the historical happenings of the Tudor period, this book is an absorbing read.

The most recent in the series, ‘Heartstone’ has three stories running consecutively and is a far poorer book because of it. The BBC have commissioned an adaptation of Dissolution with the actor Kenneth Branagh set to star as Shardlake. The story helped to open my eyes to some of the Tudor history, particularly that during the War of the Roses, with York at the centre of all. Following the uncovering of a plot against his throne in Yorkshire, King Henry VIII has set out on a spectacular Progress to the North to overawe his rebellious subjects there.

There is no woman in Shardlake’s life and it does seem that he is jealous of Barak’s relationship with Tamasin – not because he’s attracted to Tamasin himself but because he resents his friend having another attachment.Have you ever read a historical fiction series that made you stop and think that the plots of the books could be possible?
