Boring, I know, but the Worx WG184 comes in at about 13 inches. This is right at the bottom of the range for commercial landscapers. While this likely wouldn’t be used in a commercial setting, it’s darn near close. The heaviest of all of the Worx trimmers, I’m actually okay with carrying a bit more. I mean it requires two batteries so you know that it is going to be a tad heavier. Again, if you want it to have supreme power, you have to expect that it’s going to be heavier. But with both batteries, it only weighs a little under 9 lbs. Not bad at all. Durability of Worx trimmers Accessories included: Spool of 20ft weed eater line, edger wheels, 2 20V MaxLithium PowerShare batteries (optional), charger (optional) Worx may be the best in the world in making easy-to-use lawn tools. They have mastered user experience to where it’s almost scary. They’re the Apple of the lawn tool game.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the key features that set this model apart from the competition. Key FeaturesMy favorite feature is the ease with which you initially assemble the edger using just your hands and a Phillips head screwdriver. One screw? I’ve got this! If you plan to charge the batteries outdoors, note that this charger works only at temperatures between 32 and 110°F. It stops immediately and flashes red once the temperature exceeds or falls below that range. Now they’ve combined it with a high-power bada** string trimmer. Nobody is ready for this. It’s like Eleven being made in a lab. Truly the best of both worlds. Long! I love it when these have some length to them. Power on the WG184 The WG184 also includes a set of detachable edger wheels. They clip on to the main rod of the trimmer easily, making it possible to stand upright and cut a straight edge while you roll the trimmer down a hard surface next to the vegetation you’re trimming.

My husband will still be using bigger gas-powered models in his lawn care business, but he also loves having this lighter, more environmentally-friendly weed eater to use for the smaller jobs at our house. Since the Worx WG184 40V trimmer/edger uses two 20V Max lithium-ion batteries, it stays compatible with all Worx 20V tools. The cordless trimmer also features a Command Feed line advance along with variable speed control. Command Feed electronically feeds 1/4 in. of line at the touch of a button. It eliminates the bump-feed mechanism entirely. You also remove the delay as you can keep cutting as you feed the tool more .080-inch line. If you need to keep going for an hour or more, either invest in an extra battery or look for a strimmer with a rapid charger. Some can recharge the battery in under an hour, while others take two or three hours (or more) to do the job.

Summary

Zero vibrations, thanks to the electric motor. Instead, almost all petrol powered machines, which are not equipped with an anti-vibration system on steel springs, have a very high degree of vibration, making the work really unpleasant.

It’s the smaller touches that make this such an effective tool. The semi-auto line feed does a great job of ensuring that you never have to think about the cutting line during use, while the head rotates for easy edging. There’s also a pull-out plant protector to keep shrubs and tree trunks safe while you’re trimming close around them. It is heavy – a shoulder strap would be appreciated – but if you believe a cordless trimmer can’t match your existing electric or petrol model, the AdvancedGrassCut 36 could surprise you.The hum of the electric motor sounds much like one of our space heaters, and even the whinging of the string as it whirls about slicing vegetation is acceptable. It has a function available for charging a single battery, but it’s best to charge both at once since the power turns off if either battery runs down – they operate together as a unit in this trimmer. The most unusual feature (though not for Worx) involves pushbutton conversion from trimming to wheeled edging. If this was a big, heavy, gas-powered trimmer and edger, it would be impossible to maneuver if the motor was close to the ground like that. But since this model weighs less than nine pounds, it’s not much of an issue. Petrol strimmers. Powered by petrol these typically have steer handles - explained in more detail below - and a curved, angled shaft. Because they use fuel, they’re often more powerful than corded and cordless strimmers, but petrol is polluting and messy to store and use. They’re also heavy, noisy and need regular servicing. Thanks to the rise of cordless batteries, they’re less common nowadays, particularly for home use.
