As a character Zara is easily relatable with her trials and tribulations of finding a suitable man in our generation where most dating appears to happen based off a swipe left or right. Then there’s the date with Barry, her teenage crush from many years ago and of course Pablo, the very handsome bartender.

There was moments that did make me giggle, but there was many uncomfortable, cringey to much detail moments that ruined the enjoyment. Readers can't get enough of A Glasgow Kiss: 'The story is relatable to at least 99% of the female population. Were it better written and edited I’d have enjoyed it more but grammar issues, strange capitalisation (“walking through the Streets”), spelling mistakes (b-line instead of bee line) and justification issues (words spread across the page) really put me off. I’m a nurse in Glasgow just like Zara, and I can attest that we are a colourful bunch but felt like this book went too far and I definitely shook my head like my Mother would a good few times!Anchored by Sophie, she’s bringing the sass and spilling the tea on real-life experiences that have inspired her hilarious stories. I loved reading about Glasgow it’s a place I love in Scotland (well all of Scotland) that isn’t covered as much in books and it’s so nostalgic for me like I was there again. Several of my female friends have relayed tales of meeting blokes who think that the simple act of agreeing to go on a date is a contractual guarantee of sex.

With her warm and engaging personality, Sophie is your cupid of comedy, drawing out the best stories and insights from her guests which include comedian James Gardner and dominatrix Megara Fury. I felt like the main character was quite immature, if I’m 29 years old and that bothered about a “hairy fanny” that I need to mention it before every date… who caressssss.

She had such a negative attitude and the message that being skinny because you’ve been so sad over a guy that you don’t eat was never addressed and almost written like it was a positive thing to happen. I broke my hand on that holiday, which gave me six weeks off work, that's how Sex In The Glasgow City was born. It’s been written by a first- time author who had not the remotest idea of how to break into the publishing world and yet has secured her a two-book deal featuring the further adventures of Zara. And as well as hitting top spot in the Erotic Fiction charts, Waterstone’s made it one of their books of the year. If you're looking for an innocent and cute love story this summer then this one is not for you haha.

I’m meeting Sophie Gravia, the young author of what might turn out to be one of the defining literary works of Scotland’s collective lockdown experience. Zara's an infinitely relatable character; she's funny and goofy and constantly second-guessing herself. However after ten chapters or so; I began to find Zara's lifestyle a bit formulaic and, dare i say it. With 30 fast approaching, she's determined to do whatever it takes to find love - or at least someone to sext! A group of us are all reading this at the moment as part of our newly formed and made up book club and honestly we couldn't have chosen a better book to start with.If you’re looking for a book that has correct grammar, is well proof read and full of words you have to look up in the dictionary then this book is not for you. I loved this book but it was a little cringe for me in some scenes which is why I have rated it 3 stars. This is a short but sweet read full of humour and I enjoyed the use of text message conversation throughout! Laughed all the way through this book true witty heartfelt take on glasgow / Lanarkshire and the trials and tribulations of modern dating. You find yourself unconsciously casting A Glasgow Kiss even as you’re reading it, as it’s perfect for a six-part comedy drama.
