The festival will present a diverse programme of films, shorts, series and immersive works from 92 countries, featuring 79 languages playing across the 12 days of the festival. This year’s Opening Film will be the International Premiere of Saltburn, directed by Emerald Fennell, which will screen simultaneously at selected cinemas across UK. Seeing the different sides in one single frame enhances the audience’s understanding of certain actions and the measures people take to achieve what they want. The stories she told and indeed the narratives my brothers and sisters beguiled me with over the dinner table made me think about writing a fictional account of three Caribbean women.

Roman Road LDN is an independent news and culture publication for Bow and its surrounding areas of Mile End, Globe Town, Fish Island and Hackney Wick in East London. We have not put our digital content behind a paywall or membership scheme as we think the benefits of an independent, local publication should be available to everyone living in our area. As a DJ he has always been in the thick of it, but removed enough to observe the MC culture that dominated so much of the early scene, and still does. Everybody wants a piece of the action – and that includes the five heroes of Grime Kids, BBC Three’s upcoming drama. Robinson, Simon, Hazzan, Crookes and Adedokun are all fantastic – Hazzan in particular excels at giving real depth to the rebellious, lost Kai – and their starry-eyed optimism is impossible not to root for.

The lads navigate first loves, disapproving parents and brushes with danger - each coming of age in their own way, while setting out to have their music played on the airways. As high school closes for the summer, with GCSEs done and dusted, a group of friends realise the impending end of their childhood years. This helps emphasise the theme of these young boys as constantly tied together by their friendship and love for music. She described it as "Big Little Lies meets Girlfriends", and an "amazing celebration of Nigerian British culture". The BBC share: “Grime Kids charts the rise of a fictional group of young adults growing up in the late 90s, dreaming of being able to make their voice heard through grime music. At times, yes: the slo-mo action and choral music that plays every time the boys have an epiphany of some sort rapidly grows tired. One scene intercuts the action with increasingly chaotic Polaroids as their night out gets messier and messier; watching it, I felt a pang of wistfulness for my teenage years. The writing highlights these different dynamics through toxic friendships, jealousy and familial rifts. As a not-for-profit media organisation using constructive journalism to strengthen communities, we have not put our digital content behind a paywall or subscription fee as we think the benefits of an independent, local publication should be available to everyone living in our area. Set in the early 2000s, Grime Kids explores how the environment in which a person grows up affects their choices, actions and the kind of people they surround themselves with.
